Has Anyone Built A Laptop?

I live on the third floor of an apartment and I take my system to LAN parties often. I'm getting so sick of carrying my 19 inch monitor and full tower. I want to get a laptop for LAN parties and for school when I go back for my master's degree.

But I don't want to buy a Dell or some other company's pre-built laptop. I would like to built my own. But I have never seen laptop cases or mobile video cards for sell any where. Plus I have never seen the in side of a laptop too, but it couldn't be too much different than a desktop, just more compacted.

The only laptop I've seen that I would like to get is the HP Pavilion zd7000 that comes with a 17inch display. With the 80GB HDD, 128MB FX Go5600, DVD/CDRW Combo Drive added it still only comes out to $1800, which is better than other company's. The only thing I don't like is that no company has the mobile 9600 in their laptops yet....

Anyway, has anyone built a loptop before?

Your forgetting the other reason why I wanted a laptop... for school, plus I can watch dvds when ever I travel, my gf can bring it to the kitchen for looking up recipes while cooking, or when I'm watching college or pro football I can get a constant update on scores from other football games without leaving the couch to go to my computer, and the list goes on and on.

i asked a question about building a laptop a while back. Basically, the responses seemed to be that it would not only be MUCH MUCH more expensive than buying retail (pre-built), it would also be a heck of a lot heavier.
