ClayMeow Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 The mobo i was replacing (DFI ak76-sn) had a chipset fan, so i took it off. It had a two-pronged connector, so i couldn't use it on the new mobo (asus a7n8x) because i didn't see any 2prongconnectors on the board for a fan. However, I'm using an XFX geforcefx 5200 256ddr agp card and it only came with a heatsink, no fan. It has a two-pronged connector, but the grooves holding it in place didn't line up and i couldn't fit it in. So after sawing and then slicing a way with my knife, i was able to get it to what it shows in the pics below. The pics didn't come out to clear, but you may be able to notice that on one side, i sawed a little too much and wound up cutting into the hole where the pin would be inserted. Do you think it will still work? The metal part seems to still be intact. If it's questionable, is it a problem if i try it? Would i short something if it was ruined? ClayMeow Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Here's a pic of the finished project. It SEEMS to have fit into the socket alright. At first it didn't seem to go in all the way, but after more slicing i got it to a pretty good fit ( I was able to hold the fan and lift the whole card with it, so it was in securely it seemed). I haven't connected/powered on the computer yet. I'll wait 'til tomorrow. Hopefully get some replies to help me out Thanks guys

That's what i thought, but i just wanted to make sure. I know a lot of you guys have done similar things to wires and stuff. Thanks bishop
