Coors Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Not "Traitors" no, realists would be a more accurate description. If AMD had a dual core that clocked as good as my E8600's, then no doubt myself and a lot of other people would be running them. Until AMD come up with goods, that's the way it will remain. +1 I will buy whoever has the best product for the best price. If AMD wants my money they have to earn it. tinner2002 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I have a 3.1 ghz AMD processor and 8 gb ddram. I don't know how to overclock and am afraid to try. I hear bad stories about people burning up processors and monitors by overclocking. could you help me without making me read all of the archive posts? Coors Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Learning how to overclock comes with reading and experience. If you're not willing to risk frying your hardware then don't do it.
Fight Game Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I'd really,... really,.... like to hear a story about how someone friend a moniter from overclocking. Even if it's a story that you heard from a friend of a friend, and not entirely accurate. Just tell me.
Coors Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Maybe the cpu caught on fire and it spread to the monitor? lol
Devil 07 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 +1 on that, I'm in for a good story about a monitor dying due to extreme overclocks.
tinner2002 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 +1 on that, I'm in for a good story about a monitor dying due to extreme overclocks. O.K., I was told by Renaissance Computers here in Las Vegas that overclocking a video card was possible, but not advisable because it could put too much strain and/or current to the monitor itself and fry both the video card and the monitor. I take it, by the amount of fun that you are having at my expense, that that's not true... So, can you even overclock a video card or is that a farce?? Coors Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 You can OC a video card...but that has no effect whatsoever on the monitor. Whoever told you that is a moron.
Fight Game Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 sorry didn't mean for it to be at your expense. I was hoping someone would tell me a story though.
