kitfit1 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Hehe.... Kinda' looks like it's gonna'..... How the devil are you bud. No, unfortunatly it looks like 3179 is the limit. 3190 fails at about 2 hours with 1.65v. I could hit it with more vcore, but as i would'nt run it 24/7 with more than 1.65, there really is'nt any point. At some point over the next week i will put up a new OCDB entry for it though
RobNyc Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Now lets see what safe/basic settings do I start using for my new ram The G.Skillz are making my pc crash too much. It's like XP acting like Vista now and I just reinstalled XP cuz I will avoid Vista until SP1. I'm back on my 1gb buffalo, until I find some good settings to use on the G.Skillz
Clay Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 @KitFit: Hehe.. I'm allright I guess. Er' rather sometimes I think so. It's good to see ya' bro. Still at it. and still improving.LOL. Right now I'm lookin' fer' an nf3/ultra-d as I kinda' think its about time to play musical motherboards again. Move the LP-B into the living room computer. Give the asus/xp3000 to someone who might could use it. (Too slow for me anymore I getta' abit disgusted.Processors a hog and the board runs outta' volts @1.825vcore 2.9mems. Plus it has only 4# memory timings. But it did serve me well while it did.The LP-B will still work fine in that place.(I think)) It feels like time for a change. Funny but now I can't find one of those boards anywhere. Still lookin' though. Does OCDB still accept prime 95t as stability test? Or should I DL one of the new ones? As I have an entry for 302X10. Using a mix of your timings and what I threw in there. But hehe.. I forgot my timing's for 280-5X10 LOL. Summers coming! LOL And I think I'd kinda' like to drop er' back down abit on the vid for the +118f type heat we get here in july. (I'd really hate to try to overclock in the 140+ temps peeps get in other places LOL) You've sure hammered that ol' dual-core into shape! I remember some of the troubles ya' had. But then it took me one heck of a alot longer. Finally I bit the bullet and made a 3 into a 4. And a 7 into an 8. Borrowed some timings from a friend.(Hehee shoulda' tried that along time ago) It might be good for 305. But as of yet I'm really none too sure. I haven't had alot of time for overclocking-testing or even posting lately. Plus someone near and dear keeps opening my door and letting my cold out! LOL. I'm still lurkin' about though, Readin' up on you guy's. When I see someone has a problem that looks somewhat familiar I'll try to put my 2 cents in. And hope it helps.(When I can..) @Robnyc: Yeah operating systems are generally sumptin' you don't want to upgrade til' ya' absolutely have to. They're almost allways bloated. And they usually run slower. And they have buggs! I've been readin' up on vista. And despite all the wonderful advertising alot of people are still having problems. Plus it has built in DRM's that also cause problem's with diffrent drives, and use up resources. There's my afore mentioned 2 cents. Hehee... Best to you guy's... Edit: @robnyc Load optimised and clock up and tighten em' down from there. You might try the stock database or the OCDB for the same sticks or sticks with the same IC's to get a better idea. It doesn't allways work like that but you'll get a ballpark idea. The rest is in testing. Don't forget to run memtest you might have got a bad stick.(They get shipped too)

allthatwhichis Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 robnyc... how much voltage are ya givin the HZs? All 4 of my sticks prefer less than 2.6 or they crash... I keep mine around 2.55 or so but I try to keep em around the stock 250 mark... CharmedLover84 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Best thing I've found in my fun with various ram sticks is to set them to optimized defaults like everyone says, then go in to Windows, if it'll boot, and find out what A64 says the timings are... put them in manual, and start fidgeting from there, clocking ever upward as you go. Clay Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Yulp like "Charmed" said. And I forgot to mention. If you haven't allready you'll need to download either "A64 tweaker" or "A64 info" To read the values auto puts them at. Remember you can often tighten up those values quite abit. (Optimised is just a starting point.) Here's part of the the A64 info faq: LOL Q: Is this tool SAFE? A: NO! This tool is directly reading and writing CPU registers which can freeze your CPU. In worst case freezing can break your Windows installation or maybe damage your hardware. To put it simple, author of this tool is not responsible for any damage caused by this tool. You are using it on your own risk! Hehee... I still like it though.... Though I just use it for reading the values. Rarely for setting and testing.(In fact very nearly never) Edit: My own personal method of overclocking is really pretty bad. I just crash it til' it werks.

kitfit1 Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Bet Clay knows how to clear CCMOS. I think you can take that as a given, Ed
kitfit1 Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 @Clay,finding an NF3 U-D is going to be a bit of a hassel i would have thought, good luck to you though. If you want to post up an OCDB entry now, you have to use Orthos with a dual core or SP2004 for single cores. Why don't you put a lock on your door, that'l stop you know who from letting all that expensive cold air out
Clay Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Hehe... Yulp I think I can clear a cmos. Sometimes I kinda' think that's why Angry gave me this avatar. Is because someone new would mention bios flashin'.(Arrggghhh!!!) Or have a hosed up bios. .And I would copy paste the offical DFI method from Loggan's faq. I think once I highligted the important parts in caps. Heck I know A+ certified techs that are still doing it wrong. LOL. Sidenote: I've often wondered why my Ultra-D shipped with a plcc puller. Does someone at DFI know me? LOL @KitFit Yeah it looks like the nf3 Ultra-D's are all gone. Too bad really.. Looks like it might be a pretty good lil' processor. From the reviews at newegg at the time I bought it. Still I've seen no post with exact stepping so It's really just hopefull guessing on my part. Still I feel the need to swap stuff around. But I can't really afford to start a complete project right now. Humm... Dese' UFO-U2 case's look pretty cool and some are allready drilled for my PA....... Couldn't complain about space for my drives. (Which I'm kinda' short on.) 1 thing atta' time I guess just like I do everything else. I'll keep lookin' for an nf3 for awhile longer. Then I guess it's time to move on and up.
