RECOMMENDATION #1: My latest love! Even tough it's 37", it is the FUTURE imo, and you can use it as your main monitor also (best buy sells them with a premium of course, try butterfly photo): http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...07&postcount=51

Now, I have a question to you - if you are a foreigner like me and planning to go back to your country (loving "soccer" generally relates to other parts of the world even tough tons of kids are playing nowadays), I suggest you look into lcd's rather than plasma's due to volt/frequency + tuner incompatibilities. Do your thorough search first...

Furthermore, if above is the case and you are insisting on a plasma, I strongly recommend you to look into industry specific pannys. If you are into HDTV check out its hd line, but IMO edtv's are also not bad and cheap(er) - 42" panny edtv (you need a speaker system + tuner to make it a complete set. Also you can customize the back plate according to your needs) - $1,394 including shipping!! http://www.plasmahouse.com/PANASONIC-TH-42...TH42PWD8UK.HTML

IMPORTANT NOTE: check out

2) plasma tv reviews: http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/

3) fatwallet (do a search on plasma and lcd to find some GREAT deals): http://www.fatwallet.com/c/18/

There are some good price/performance tv's out there from hitachi, maxent, sceptre, vizio, samsung, etc...

Hope it helps.

buy online never buy from those 2 and I recomend going with just a plain Hd lcd cheaper and u can get bigger .

Plasma is much better than LSD for watching footie, but save 2.2k and go down the pub, or what ever they are called over there and get pissed for three weeks :D

I'm unimpressed with plasma in general. The blacks are nice but a good LCD is better looking in the colors department IMO. Then the plasma gets even less attractive with the knowledge that they lose their brightness over time.... to the tune of 1/2 every 3 years.

I own a 42inch samsung plasma HD tv. IDK I love it to death but I just hate the thought of burn-in. I know it takes time but when I watch like an hour of soccer I can clearly see the scores when I turn the tv off, I would vote lcd but either way you are looking at some gorgeous ideas :)

You can get a 50 Inch, 720p DLP for under $2000. I have a 2nd generation and It's super.

The newer ones are $3000 and are 1080p. Yes, they are rearview projection, but the technology is a totally different animal. I can pick it up and move it with no help. You don't want to try that with Plazma or LCD of that size. None of the exterior light problems of the normal rearview projection.

Google DLP and check the prices.

I recently picked up a 42" Syntax Olevia LT42HVI and am loving it. These can be had for around $1600 or so. I am running it as my monitor (with a DVI to HDMI converter). The image at 1280x720 is fantastic. I prefer the resolution to be this low so I can see what I'm typing/reading from a distance. Games are phenomenal, as are DVD's and movies.

While viewing as a television (very cool to use Picture in Picture with a TV on my desktop), standard definition is fine. I have not gotten around to HD yet. I have a HD tuner PCI card arriving next week, so if you're interested I can give you an update about HDTV quality.

EDIT: On sale at Microcenter for $1399 through 6/17!!!
