Angry_Games Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 So, we've now got a nice economy going here at DFI-Street, and I along with many others am very happy to see this. However...with any success, comes a few bad apples, and a few bad persons who will take advantage of others without any shame or second thoughts, and then there are just those who practice bad trading habits. So here is what we have decided to do: If you have committed any bad trading practices in this forum, you will have your name added to this list, as well as your permissions for this section will be removed, and you will not be allowed to trade. Anyone that gets their name on this list will not be here because we don't like you. Your name will be on this list to warn others to not trade with you here or any other forum (however we only have control over this forum). ANY AND ALL DISPUTES MUST, I REPEAT, MUST BE BROUGHT TO ADMIN/MOD ATTENTION...DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HAVE IT OUT WITH SOMEONE IN THIS FORUM. YOU MAY PETITION MODS TO RE-INSTATE YOUR FS/FT PRIV'S DEPENDING ON THE SERIOUSNESS OF YOUR VIOLATION AFTER A MINIMUM OF ONE MONTH (30 DAYS) If you feel your name is unfairly on this list, please take it up with moderators/admins and we will kindly explain our position with/to you. ***** BAD DFI-STREET TRADER'S LIST: 1. seer33 reason(s): Backed out of trade after committing to a deal. This was done in writing in this section. This is a no-no, and everyone knows it. If you commit to buy or sell something at a specific price, then you MUST follow through with it. Backing out of a deal is almost as bad as ripping someone off, and it will NOT be tolerated. Period. 2. -aDaM^ reason(s): Known Troll (bad trader, banned in other forums for bad trading habits, banned permanently from this forum) 3. fps_shawn reason: fps_shawn has had ongoing problems with completing trades. Until he finalizes all open problem trades he has going on, his account is frozen here at DIY-Street. If he approaches you for a trade, heed our warning seriously and avoid him. If you have any open trades going with this person, please contact Praz. 4. cuoficr reason: cuoficr also has a bad trade out that has not been resolved. His account has also been frozen to keep him from being able to make ongoing deals when he is unable to successfully complete trade(s) that are already unresolved and in dispute. If this person approaches you for a trade, avoid. If you have any open trades going with this person, please contact Thunda. 5. Bobyboy101 reason: Bobyboy101 has a bad trade out that has yet to be resolved, and has ignored repeated attempts to communicate with him. His account has been banned from this forum and you are definitely discouraged to trade with this individual via other means. If you have any information about this person, or any unresolved trades dealing with him, please contact technodanvan. 6. DeC reason: DeC has violated the rules of promising to purchase something and never sending payment. While the person he was trading with was smart enough to never send the item before receiving payment, this is against our policies. If you plan to purchase something and tell the seller (or if you plan to sell something and tell the buyer) you will go through with the deal, and you do not, we fell you cannot be trusted to be a good trader. This user is banned from trading in DIY-Street's Marketplace. If after 60 days he wishes to petition us to get his trading privileges reinstated, he can contact the mod below who is working this user's situation. If you have any information about this person, or any unresolved trades dealing with him, please contact dr_bowtie. 7. neilcha reason: neilcha has had more than one bad trade at this forum. He has never finished a trade with Chump as of the day this is posted, and Chump is out £160.00 (about $250 US dollars?) even though Paypal judged in his favor. This trader is to be avoided If you have any information about this person, or any unresolved trades dealing with him, please contact dr_bowtie 8. darkninja420 Reasons: Here., Here., And here. Synopsis: this dude looks like he owes around $4,000+ to 30 members of various forums. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
ReMoose Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 This is just a thought but like xtremesystems.org their fs/ft has a 100 post limit. if the user is under 100 posts they dont have access. I know that excludes good traders that are new to the forums but its effective.
Angry_Games Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 well we've discussed this because OC Forums was the first to do such a thing and we realized that the most important thing is that it is up to YOU, the trader, to do your legwork/homework and find out who you are trading with. it is NOT our responsibility to babysit you every step of the way. ooztuncer Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Travis (ag/hg) and other mods/admins, just a suggestion here: Perhaps we can ask whoever trades here to put their nick in their heat. That might prevent potential "identity" theft issues. As usual, my $0.02...
t_ski Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I was just on another forum earlier today where one mod had locked a guy's thread because he didn't add his name from that forum to his heat, even though his registered email address for that forum matched the one for his heat, and that I vouched for him. There are lots of guys who join several forums just to get their stuff sold (I'm selling on 5 or 6 ATM). I've added all my nicks, but some don't. This does go back to what AG/HG has been saying all along, that the buyer needs to do his homework before laying down the cash... Angry_Games Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 MAKE SURE YOU SAVE ALL COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN YOU AND THE PERSON YOU ARE BUYING OR SELLING FROM. THESE COMMUNICATIONS CAN BE CRUCIAL IN CASE OF A DISPUTE!!! As we are finding out now that this section is very popular...a few disputes have arisen and some parties have forgotten to keep all pm's and posts and emails, and it is making it very hard to help resolve these situations. dr_bowtie Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 You can take this one step further if need be... Even if you are the buyer or the seller...It's a good idea to exchange e-mail address's ahead of time as well as the shipping address... and any pertanant info to verify either party lives at such address...even a telephone number...next of kin...you know...cover you butt here... you can validate any address via the internet and you can also put a name on the address to verify the person receives mail there... If you get an uneasy feeling...dont trade....I recomend checking and verifying the address just in case you get stiffed... that way you'll know ahead of time if the person is giving a bogus address or not.... michaelzhao Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Is there any legal action you can take if somone rips you off? Lets say, I order RAM from someone. I send a MO or Paypal of 100 bucks. But I don't recieve my RAM. What legal steps should I take to recover my 100 bucks?
red930 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Is there any legal action you can take if somone rips you off? Lets say, I order RAM from someone. I send a MO or Paypal of 100 bucks. But I don't recieve my RAM. What legal steps should I take to recover my 100 bucks? Well, if you held the deal through Paypal they could help you out. But beyond that we can't really do anything but suggest that you MAKE SURE you know what you're getting yourslef into. Obviously if you get ripped off we'll check out what happened and if necessary ban the 'problem person' from the F/S section and put awarning about the user in this page. But honestly we can't really do anything besides that except make suggestions to both parties. Unless of course they happen to live in the same town as me... ComicDom1 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I was attempting to trade with someone newer to the forum. This person had an execellent heat rating from what I saw. After providing my phone number, I requested their phone number several times. When they refused to provide that information it made me question the deal so I decided not to trade and look elsewhere. I think a good rule of thumb for trading with someone is make sure they provide a phone number you and reach them at as well as other information. Typically if I am trading for a higher dollar item, I make a phone call to the person. This does not mean they are safe to trade with, but it certainly makes you feel a little more secure when trading. Jason
