Repent! The End Of The Internet Is Nigh!

General Marshall

It's 9 and 1/4 pages long. It is very well written. It sounds like a dooms day proffecy. It is written by Michael J. Copps, Federal Communications Commissioner. Read it then wail and nash your teeth! Or you could just write your Congressman and give him your two cents.

Actually, this is quite serious. Take a read if you truely love the Internet the way it is.

if something like that does happen all we have to do is burn down the evil peoples buildings... or... Internet 2 ... it could be all free stuff... no businesses... therefore no spam... no ads... no... oooooooooooh... that would be aweosme! then all those low-cost ISPs would have to change their commercials from "everyone connects to the same internet... why pay twice as much for it?" to.... "we connect to the business internet beacuse were insane muhahahahahah" ... mabye not... but as i was saying before, a few well placed pirotechnics can go a long way in freeing us from the clutches of evil people trying ot take over our lives...

note: Aliencam does NOT sugest actualy burning down the buildings/offices/persons of any sort of orginaziation or business that you, or anyone else thinks is evil. He was serious about having 2 internets tho... :P

It won't happen.

You realize the amount of legal actions would take place?

Put it this way. If you pay for hosting. Then all of a sudden they cancel the "internet". Me, I want my money back. So I sue (I wouldn't, just giving an example) my host. He sues his ISP because well, he wants his money back. That ISP sues their ISP and the chain goes on.

Folks, the essay was not written by a columnist, it was written by one of the Commissioners of the FCC! He is one of the people making the decissions in the FCC, and he is telling us that this is the direction the FCC wants to take us!

Please, reconsider your Ostrich-head-in-the-ground attitudes.

they've tried to tax email, they've tried to tax the internet. neither one worked. why? cuz the internet is not something one person owns, or even one country. the internet is the people's internet. it's global. think about it what would an american politician be able to do about the internet in say germany? NOTHING (unless of course he opted to invade and conquer first). this is a rumor that has been circulating for years, it's meant to stir up some thoughts... but it doesn't do much besides annoy folks.
