pcburner Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 I am currently running 2700 ddr. I want to purchase a new mobo that has dual channel memory. Will any 2700 memory work or does it have to be specially designed for dual channel setup's? To be specific I am using (2) Corsair 512 2700LL memory modules. They were purchased at seperate times but they are of the same part number. Any details would be greatly appreciated.
AYoKoNA Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 yea dual channel will work provided you have the exact same memory speed (pc2700) and preferably the same manufactur and chip as well. Your in that boat so you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure to follow the manual so u know where to put the chips so dual channel will work. SIREX Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 I would suggest a Chaintech 7njs Ultra for the mobo. Its has SATA, Dual Channel DDR, not the best sound but you have a soundblaster so no biggy there. Also I don't know if you like the toys that come with some of the boards but the 7NJS has it all. Rounded cables, Cbox with remote and extras that would require to much typing to list. The board is layed out pretty good and has a cool look. I like all the extras. The bios will let you O/C like a mofo. This is the first dual channel board I have had. All the others were MSI's. I have no complaints at all. Dignan Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Though last night I finished building a new rig, second on sig it was my first with dual channel. I was in the same boat with an extra gig of 2700, I had a long discussion with one of my friends about weather it made a difference and he said that it is best to have two sticks from the same lot number. Being the same part number is crucial and it's only a plus to have the RAM specifically tested for DC. I was a little weary of trying to build a comp and run into RAM stablilty issues so I bought the DC memory plus I bought the 3200 for better OC. So it seems as it should work as long as they are the same part number so go for it, please tell us how it turns out I am curious to see if I could put the 2700 to some DC use!
