I had this idea looking at GNOME's masterpiece ( <_< you know the faboulous plexi case) well i got bored and wanted to do my power supply a bit that way,it's just a start but i think it'll look good :P at least diffrent ;)

I did 3- 60mm holes for fans since i'll be covering the front vents and each device will have it's own cable everything will be silver chrome like.

K, few more steps done :P

I tried to find decent chrome paint for the PS box itself, oh they look good but as MC hammar wouls say ''cant touch this'' so i decided to use silver leafing, you know silver sheets about 1 micron thin lol well it's not real flashy chrome but at least it can be handled without fingerprinting it <_<

And then on with the actual wire mess.

As you can see i had to cut and solder more than half the wires in the mobo cable. Not for the beginner moder lol and sleeving them in the SS tube was no pic-nic either <_<

But the result dosn't look half bad, now all i need is the 3 60mm fans ,and it'll be ready to try in the case

:D Hopefully without any sparks and smoke

Next time, the finished product ;)

very well done kobalt, thats a very clean mod, ive made it a habit to mod my PSU's one way or the other, now if i may add... you had mentioned that your had wanted to spray it... well that is possible, the only thing about crome/silver spray paint, is you have to let it sit for a few days inbetween coats ( im in the process of re-doing my PS1, so i know the pain of waiting ) also, once your done putting a few coats on, find a clear coat laquer and that will eliminate any chance of adding fingerprints to your master peice.. anyways.. happy modding sir... look forward to seeing that bad boy up and running in your rig

That's the whole problem with the chrome paint i've hummm! experienced when you add the clear coat it simply eats the chrome part leaving you with a dull grey color with tiny chrome specs. :(

the paint wasnt fully dry if it did that... last time i went all out on a crome paint job... i let the item sit for 2 weeks b4 clear coating it, ive had the same problem in the past (and since its metal that your using, you could have cheated a bit and tossed it in the oven and let it bake for a bit )

I'll take your word for it ,i have done the floppy and one of the drives with paint and i shoved them back in the case (very carefully loll) they have been sittin there for 3 to 4 days now,i'll try the clear coat sometimes this week see if it sticks

Thnx for the tip ;)

Update: i've tried it on a piece that i painted around the same time, it was very dry but did the same greyish thing. Maybe the clear coat was too strong (not of the same make) <_<

It's ok , it looks good anyway :P
