While in my CIS 2149 class, I started to wonder if there is a command that can be run in the windows command promp to login temporarily as an administrator when logged in as a generic user, like in Linux there is a command...I think it is su then the admin password or something similar to that? Anyone know if this is possible in the command prompt?

Hey O(V)eGA_l2el) got the answer for you on that.....

just hold down shift and right click the program icon you want to use

and click "Run As"

this will give you a logon prompt to log in as any user you want

there is a way to do it in dos. but in was a little strange. it changed your network rights to the servers, but not workstation rights (at least that was the case in NT/2000). I'll have to dig thru some notes later on and try to find it, cuz it was part of the MCSE training course :( had to know it at one time though it wasn't on any of the tests.
