edjahman Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I recently had to send back my enermax 620 because it couldnt do the job. I was thinking of buying one of those PC power and cooling 1KW mothers but it is sooooo expensive. Does anyone here have any good recommendations for my setup? It seems that being sli certified doesn't always cut it for a psu as far as a 7900 gtx setup. I'm really pissed that the enermax couldnt hang. Does anyone here have one of those PC power and cooling PSU's?? Are they worth it?? --EJM
UncleDavid218 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 No. A 700w Fortron or OCZ GamerXStream will work perfectly... and for much less money.

UncleDavid218 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I'm still not understanding why that Enermax didn't work... I should be enough to power that system... hmm...
red930 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Are they worth it?? Personally, yes they are. You pay for the peace of mind that in 4 years you'll still have enough power for virtually any setup. I plan on getting one in the near future as this 510 has served me extremely well considering the load I put on it. The Fortron is an excellent PSU, and is probably a better choice given how much money you can save. But honestly I'm sticking with top-of-the-line on this one. southmine Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I'm still using the original OCZ Powerstream 600. While it's still listed by nvidia as SLI compatible, it's not on the list to run 2X7900GTX's. No problems yet, but then again, I don't currently have a lot of other hardware hooked up. We'll see if it's up to it if/when I get around to swapping in a pair of Raptors and an Audigy 2ZS Platinum.
