Conaway Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 If I bent the pins on my CPU would it still work? I straightened them close to perfect and the CPU sat into the slot just fine. Is this a big problem?
osen Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 No, it should not be a problem if none of the pins where bent of. I did the exact same misstake the first time I installed a A64 system.
Qw3r7y Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Get some very small tweezers or needle nose pliers...then as GENTLY as possible straighten them out again. (And I mean gently!) As osen said; so long as they are not physically broken they are fine so long as you can get them into their respective slots. EdLSmith Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 It isn't usually a problem. Bent pins usually are not difficult to straighten but broken pins are. If you have PIB with warranty, AMD will replace. If you don't have the warranty, there is motherboardrepair.com run by Gary Headlee. He has replaced broken pins for me on a couple of occaisions. Conaway Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I used a flat razor blade to straighten them, they seem ok.
