I want to buy a new cooler for my processor because the retail one is just not good enough.

Anyway I'm considering:

- Zalman CNPS9500 LED $60

- Asus Star Ice $30

Any other recommendations or pros & con for the ones mentioned...

Thanks...

What TIM did you use? The stock heatsink for a 4400 is pretty darn good, on par with an XP-90 with decent fan.

Anyways...the Arctic Freezer Pro is still on sale at SVC, might be better, not sure if SVC ships out of the country though.

Otherwise that Zalman is pretty good you have picked out, you won't see a dramatic drop in temps but its possible.

I bought both a Zalman and a Big Typhoon to test out. I had a VERY hard time trying to install the typhoon - the supplied screws seemed too short and I was applying a huge amount of downward force in order to bend the bracket. The other option was to use the supplied steel bracket but it looked like it would damage the bottom of my motherboard so I opted not to try it. I ended up not wanting to bend my motherboard and went with the Zalman 9500. In comparison, the installation was a snap and it fit in my system no problems. I realize that temps are very dependent on ambient temps, but I can tell you my results and you can make your own decisions. I saw a drop of idle temps from 36C to 29C and load temps of 43C to 36C....and I only keep the 9500 fan running at ~1700rpm using smartguardian. I can start to hear it running at 1800rpm. So for me this was a definite improvement over the stock (non-heatpipe) fan which was the loudest thing in my system and had a habit of revving up and down...making an annoying noise.

My personal opinion is that you need to consider your case and airflow dynamic...if you want a downward blowing cooler (ie..blows down onto your motherboard/cpu) you should go with an SI-120 and you can pick your own fan based on noise, cfm, looks, whatever.. (the installation looks very simple and is also lighter than the big typhoon), but if you want a cooler that will blow air back toward your rear exhaust, the 9500 is great and maybe the AC Freezer Pro - but I don't have any experience with it. The Scythe Ninja is supposed to be terrific, however, some have complained that the motherboard gets hot and this affects overclocking potential.

Good luck!

Hi,

Currently my 4400+ retail fan is giving me 39C when idle...

And in many reviews using FX-60 with a seperate fan gives 30 - 32 at idle when overclocked. I don't know about you guys but thats a big difference.

Anyway technodanvan do you recommend the Arctic Freezer Pro over the Zalman and the Asus one.

And thanks Shredman for the recommandation...

now these are in my list:

- Zalman CNPS9500 LED

- Asus Star Ice

- Arctic Freezer Pro

any pros & cons on each would real help...

and buying a heatsink and a seperate fan is not one of my options...

I know the Star Ice is noisy but effective.

the Zalman is effective and less noisy than Asus.

I know that alot of you guys recommend the Freezer Pro but why?

Because I've read some reviews about it and it doen't seem as effective as the Zalman, Asus, or the Thermaltake...

Anyway waiting for your responses.

Thanks...

Personally I'd stick with the Zalman, I've had very good luck with their products and highly recommend it.

The Arctic Freezer is just cheaper, which is why I mentioned it. Beats me how good it is.

The Zalman has solid temperatures and will mount on both AMD and Intel. However, it requires the install of a backplate so that adds maybe 10 minutes to the process.

The arctic cooling freezer pro is a definate recommend. It delivers at or beyond the Zalman temps while installing onto the default backplate. Plus, it's much less expensive.

I am using a Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu HSF & 4 Case fans. This Zalman is very quiet and adjustable if I need it. I’m running an A64 x2 4400+ solid at 2.7Ghz [email protected]% = 1.50v Vcore (roughly) with temp at 27C Idle and 45C Loaded. I’m dual core prime95 stable for over 12 hours. My ambient temperatures are 16c-19c so those are the bigest factor in air cooling.

Thanks for the Angry_Games.

But as I mentioned before I don't wnat to buy a heatsink and than a fan, I want them in one peace. And money is not a problem $60 bucks is about my limit on a fan.

By the way does SVC ships worldwide?
