Tragic Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Hi Guys, I just purchased a new PC and this is my first go with a DFI board. I have connected everything up and when turn the powersupply on the Standby Power LED flashes, no other LED's light up (diag or ram) and nothing powers up. If I press the power on button on the board nothing happens. I have connected all 4 power connections. I have tried clearing the BIOS for 20mins and I have also tried a different power supply all with the same result? Any idea's? red930 Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Make sure all four power connections are made... http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...932&postcount=9 See the LED indicators here... http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...705&postcount=4 If you have the lower Amber LED flashing that indicates a PSU problem. Make sure the cables are connected properly and the floppy power connection isn't reversed.
Tragic Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I have connected all 4 power connections now and still get the flashing Standby LED? Floppy connection is as per the pic you linked to, yellow/black/black/red

Floppy connection is as per the pic you linked to, yellow/black/black/red As I stated earlier, the flashing Amber LED is a signal that the PSU has a problem. Try changing the load on the rails by moving the power connections to different devices to see if that resolves the issue. If not, try another PSU. Tragic Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 As per the original post I have already tried a different power supply with the same result? I've also tried the PSU with no other devices connected...
Wwhat Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Are you sure you plugged in the case connectors correctly? I'd try pulling them out and starting anew, just to be sure
Qw3r7y Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Check you are not grounding the mobo on the case somewhere. Friend of mine had this issue as was grounding out part of the mobo on a piece of errant metal from some case mods he'd done! Tragic Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Well I havn't done any case mods, but I decided to take the MB out to see if it was grounding. Outside the case it came up with a solid standby power light so I guess you were right Qw3r7y, now to chuck it back in and find the source of the problem... Qw3r7y Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Double check that all of your mobo spacers are seated firmly and properly. Then (if you can) look down the back of the mobo tray at the space between the mobo and the tray/case. You should have a good gap of a few mm's with NOTHING protruding down bar the spacers... Wwhat Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Seems it's not completely uncommon that people have shorts that way if I browse these forums, I wonder what causes it, I never saw a motherboardtraydesign that had such poor standoffs that that is likely to occur, strange. So if you find the cause and fix it please report back to us so we may learn from it.
Tragic Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Well I have no idea what caused it. After getting it working on the test bench I put it back in the case, powered the PSU up to check for a solid light I then added everything one by one and tested it each time. Also repeated with each case screw and the light went solid each time (indicating functioning PSU)? So now at the end of it my PC is working however I have no idea what caused the initial grounding? Its a brand new Antec P150 with no mods, I had a look around and cannot see anything that would be causing a short so im a little lost but atleast it is working. Thanks for all the help guys
