momoceio Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 First I'd like to introduce myself...I'm a new DFI owner and new to the forums. This looks to be a great resource for all things DFI. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck overclocking the G.Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS sticks? Also...if these sticks aren't great for overclocking, could someone recommend some better RAM? I'd like to run 2 X 1GB...I'm wanting to get my sempy up to about 2.5 ghz. Thanks for any help...if you need more info just ask. calvintang Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 hello there.... is that the ram on 'sale ' at new egg? ? anyway... hmm.. i dont think so.... ok'' your ram is pc3200.. so i dont think it could be overclocked alot.. you gotta test it... read the stickies at the overclocking section(amd).. you get to learn more about the basic overclocking process.... hmm ... imo if you can get it to run higher congrats... but if it willl not go over.. you could : A :buy a memory that is rated for higher speeds if you want it to run 1;1 with your processor... B... keep the ram.. run it on a divider.... if you could .. get the gskill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021 that one is rated over 250mhz i think.. alot of people have good luck on it.. sit yourself down with a beverage and read through the threads/stickies to get a good picture on how it will perform and your expactations... by the way.... learn how to use the 'search' function before you ask a question ,ok.... momoceio Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I did a search...I was just looking to see if anyone had success with that specific RAM which I didn't find in a search. I've ready many of the stickies and articles already...just wanted to see if this RAM was even worth trying to fiddle with since my goal is pretty high. I had it up to 2ghz so far...I believe the RAM was at 222. Thanks for the recommendation of RAM though...i'll give it a look. ICON57 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 go with the g.skill hz's much better choice, if you plan to reach higher speeds...and welcome to dfi-street
tasr Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 momoceio To DFI-Street. I hate the search function but use it and will probably learn to love someday. Check these treads out; Socket 939 - G.Skill HZ/Any other UCCC (2x1024) 260+ please post here and Stock Speed Database. If you are planning to overclock, I would first read this The Definitive DFI AMD Overclocking Guide. Then re-read it, and you will be surprised how much more info you’ll pick up. Hope it helps. Calvintang those are awesome memory, have you used any yet? I just got mine. Momoceio the G. Skill HZ Calvintang recommends are a good bet. Do a little more research to make sure there no problems with your nF3 board.
Spyvie Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I jst got a set of these 2x1GB G.Skills on Monday… http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021 So far I’ve had them Memtest stable at 268 on the same MoBo as you, I think they’ll do better but I don’t want to overvolt my processor. EDIT: 268 @ SPD timings of 3,5,5,10 2.5v

momoceio Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Well...I've got my GSkill HZ installed and running at 265 without tweaking anything yet. I'll work on that this weekend...my sempy is humming along nicely at 2120mhz but I know it'll go much further Tweak on!!! Thanks for the help everyone! johnny* Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I just picked a set of the HZ's and can't seem to get past 262 (@ 3-4-3-8 1T) or so. Anything above 262, I get numerous errors in memtest, even if I loosen my timings to 3-5-5-8. That being said, I get the feeling that my problem lies in the crappy mem controller on this clawhammer. I'm going to try flashing w/ the newest bios today + moving the sticks around (try every combination of stick/slot) to try and squeeze a few more mhz out. My cpu is good for another 100 mhz or so, so I'd really like to up that FSB if possible. Anyone have any suggestions/experiences as to running high FSB on a clawhammer? ICON57 Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 throw your ram on a divider...dont worry about running in sync.....Mhz are the thing to go for...there is a big thread on the hz's with spreadsheet showing everyones timings....take a look, for some ideas.
