wanksta Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 (edited) I have a A7N8X Dx and i overclocked my 2500+ barton to a fbs of 200 and a multiplyer of 11 which equals a 2.2 ghz, 3200+. However, i only have a corsair pc 2700 512 ram. so i overclocked the ram (atleast i think it is) by setting my system preformance to "agressive," which makes the ram frequency run at the same frequency as the processor, 200 mhz, is it properly over clocked? my memory timing was something like 8-4-4-3 i think. all the volts are standard is all of that ok? getting temps of 39C Edited October 7, 2003 by wanksta
O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 (edited) Are you using 2x256mb of PC2700/333Mhz(which can dual-channel) or just one 512 Dimm, if so, you have a FSB of 200Mhz*2=400Mhz(memory speed, which is o/c) I dont think you have to set it to "Aggressive" unless Im wrong? syneze Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 doesn't your boot up screen tell you what your RAM frequency is?. All the "aggressive" does is change your CAS settings.
O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Yes on bootup is shows your FSB rate which is multiplied by 2 and the result is your memory speed(for example FSB of 166Mhz*2=332Mhz memory speed). The default for memory timings is set to "Auto" but can be changed to "Aggressive" and "Optimum".
smithy Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 (edited) Setting to aggressive is fine. It relaxed your ram settings and should be in sync with your cpu setting. I set my ram setting at 100% versus auto. but really it overclocked well for my rig. Edited October 7, 2003 by smithy
wanksta Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 my boot up doesn't say a speed, but it says agressive preformance enabled or something like that
Sainou-Kun Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Makes it sound Like the ram will attack the mobo or something. Look in the Manual that came with your mobo and see what it says about those settings. Also Look for Bios updates and such, maybe it will make it more... Understandable to Us then, Aggressive. Gl man.
