Hi all,

I have been checking out this forum for some time now, and let me just say that IT IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! :)

The amount of information I gathered from this board helped me in selecting my new rig, which I will have the pleasure of OCing 24/7!!

Here is what I have so far:

AMD Athlon FX53

DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert

OCZ PowerStream 520W

eGeforce 7800 GTX 256mb PCI- E

ThermalTake VB1000BWS Soprano mid-tower ATX Black

I am having trouble in slecting the right ram modules to finalize the rig. I am hesitating between these 2 models:

CORSAIR PC3500 LL PRO 2*1024 DUAL

OCZ Gold GX XTC 2GB (2x1GB) PC4000 DDR <-PROB

I have gathered information on these rams from many websites, here are some stable OC values:

OCZ Gold PC4000 GX XTC 2GB Dual

Stock:

250MHz 3.0-4-3-8 2.75v

OC:

200MHz 2.5-3-3-7 1T 2.8v

225MHz 2.5-3-3-7 1T 2.8v

230MHz 2.5-4-3-7 1T 2.8v

265MHz 3.0-4-3-8 1T 2.8v

Corsair 2GB XMS-3500LLPRO TwinX

Stock:

218MHz 2.0-3-2-6 1T 2.8v

OC:

max results shown

228MHz 2.0-3-2-6 1T 2.8v or 3.0v

256MHz 2.5-3-3-7 1T 2.8v or 3.0v

258MHz 3.0-4-4-8 1T 3.0v

The $1,000,000 question: WHICH RAM SHOULD I BUY???????

Thanks for the speedy reply! Now that's dedication :P

I would have thought that the lower latencies of the corsair would be a winner... why go OCZ? is it for compatibility's sake?

the Corsiar 3500LL PRO is actually excellent excellent awesome memory...it is the Infineon CE-6 stuff...same chips used in teh OCZ PC4000 EB 2GB kits

you pay extra for the useless LED's though, so if you want some fantastic memory, go for the OCZ EB

the other OCZ kit you mentioned is fairly fantastic as well...I love my XTC modules

basically...you can't go wrong either way...unless you have a cpu cooler that hangs over the memory slots...then you will find out what pain is when you try to install the 3500LL PRO modules (they won't fit in the first two slots with any aftermarket cpu coolers like XP-90's etc that hang over memory slots)

PS1: never go by someone else's overclock results...that is the worst thing you can do

PS2: you have an FX-53, probably the older 130nm core, which has the older memory controller...and it might not overclock as well as the newer 90nm cpu's with newer memory controllers.

PS3: heh...just checking to see if you are paying attention!

Hi Angry, thanks for the reply

I've looked at them (OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 1024MB Platinum), and I think you're right... they have won me over :D

What kind of overclock should I expect???

ok, for the sake of saving forum resource , i won't open another thread as i have an exactly same question, the rams in my sig have failed on me recently and i need some ones too.

my options are:

corsair 3500LL (you all know which ones im talking about)

g.skill hzs 4000

ocz 4000(gold or platinum?)

i understand that cpu speed is the king of all but i also know that running a 1:1 divider would be best for oc.

so please come up with any suggestions to make me (and mrOCman) make the decision.

many thanks.

gold or platinum...either or

same stuff as the Gskill, but there are no Gskill reps here, while there are 3 and sometimes 4 OCZ reps here who are all overclockers and love DFI motherboards

as for overclock...you best take a read of this:
