SLI Help :)

Hey guys silly question i know, but i want to format my system and first time i set it up someone talked me throught the procedure for setting up SLI perfectly after a format can anyone help me out again as have had to feformat.

 

I think it was put only one card in, boot into windows reboot cnage in the bios to 8-4-NC-8 plaug the other card in and boot into windows then install drivers then enable software SLI option then reboot again??? can anyone clarify this please.

 

And also is it correct for my monitor to be plugged into the top card in the SLI configuration?

I've played around with a lot of different configurations and the one that I have had work the best for me was.

 

1)Install both cards.

 

2)Enter BIOS and enable 8-4-nc-8. Leave all other settings for sli disabled.

 

3)Boot to windows.

 

4)Allow windows to find new hardware and let windows install generic drivers.

 

5)Reboot machine. Get back into windows.

 

6)Open newest drivers (I'm using 84.21) and install them, once installed you should get the little popup letting you know that SLI is now available.

 

7)Enter settings for Nvidia cards and check the Enable SLI box.

 

8)Reboot machine one more time to make sure all settings have taken.

 

This sequence worked the best for me and I've tried literally 40-50 different ways to get this to work. Seems that every situation can be different but after formats I've used this both times and it's working flawlessly.

 

As far as where you should have your monitor plugged into, I've ALWAYS been told that the top card is where you should be. This is what I have used and again no problems.
