watsonte Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I am curious as to if there are others like me with the cold boot issue that has still not been fixed even after RMAing the board to DFI. I sent it to have the cold boot issue fixed and still it doesnt want to cold boot. Could it be a power issue or a lack there of? dissident Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I've heard that the cold boot issue is caused by these single rail power supplies that have all the amps on one rail.. any truth to this? Hope so, because I have an antec truepower 2 550 with the standard 2 rails, some 19 amps per rail.

Addiarmadar Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I have heard repeated issues for this but most of them have been related to the PSU. Got another PSU to try?

Well, actually 9 months down the road with this PSU, I had cold boot issues which RMA fixed it  .
Justintoxicated Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 you RMAed the PSU?

frenchie Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Try the cap mod. It only costs a couple of bucks to try it. Get a .22uf metal film cap from radio shack and plug it in parallel to the switch. (Not a 22uf cap!). I did it like this and have no more cold boot problems: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...6&postcount=
PUTALE1 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 have you try to boot with just 1 gfx card and maybe 2 sticks of ram? I had problem with boot before and what I did is use another psu to kind "junp start" the mobo. what happen is that 1 psu won't boot it, so I switch the psu with another one (kind weird as the wattage of the psu that didn't work is actually stronger), anyhow, after I switch the psu the mobo boots. I then switch back the psu that didn't work, and voila, it actually boots fine since then.
staffypup Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 After installing the 2006/04/06 BIOS I too experienced the cold boot problem. So I went back to the previous BIOS (2005/11/14). Since then everything has been fine.
Guest Retratserif Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I still have a board like that. I RMA'ed the PSU and was going to be getitng a OCZ PowerStream 520 apap. Just go to wait on refund now. Its been at there office for one week processing. I will send them an email tommorrow asking about it. If that PSU is not working for you, I dont know what I am going to do. I have been trying everything for a few weeks now. Not one person has given us a reason or how to fix this issue here or through DFI support. One thread says RMA the PSU. Other thread says RMA the motherbaord. Niether have fixed some peoples issues. One or both have fixed others. I dont know what to do next either man. I am out of cash to be sending parts back and forth. No one really should have to go through more money than the mobo and PSU cost in shipping things back to get fixed. I wish I gould help you, becuase then I would be helping my self. Mabye someone with a real fix will post here, or just ignore it. Who knows. I guess all we can do is keep asking.
