Jet Doc Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 First I want to say hello I've been lurking for a while reading stickys and past posts. My ultra d won't boot. I get the 2 amber power lights but nothing else. No beeps no red lights. All 4 power connectors are in. I've tried 1 stick of ram in either orange slot. HD disconnected. Video card out. Every time it's the same thing just the 2 amber lights. If i hold the pwr switch on the MB the amber led by the memory does go out. I tried a quick cmos clear with no luck. Right now I'm going for a longer clear. Anything I've missed? Forgot to add, the fans don't come on either. I've read a few posts that say to take the MB out and try again. This is going to be my last option because of the pain it will be to pull of the water cooling system. Thanks in advance, Chris aka Jet Doc
ICON57 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 try putting vid card in, so you can get into bios. do a cmos reset, load optimized settings with 1 stick of ram in orange slot farthest from cpu, see if this helps you to boot. if not, try the above again, and hold down "insert" key while booting. tasr Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Jet Doc To DFI-Street. Is your HSF fan plugged into the motherboard? Go into the BIOS, under PC health and set the “CPUfan Fully On If CPUTemp > 26c. Play with it from there. That should get your fan going at low temps. tasr
Daddyjaxx Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 You really need to pull everything out of the case to rule out a short on the motherboard.
boatasiaus Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 You need to try jumping the PSU, to see if it's dead (Psst tasr... He can't boot, so no BIOS  )
Jet Doc Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Ok broke down and pulled the mobo out of the case. Still nothing. Just two amber lights. Just tried to jumper the PS. Green wire to a black. Dosen't come to life. Looks like it might be dead. Don't have time to play with it now. I'll try again later. I'll keep you posted. Jet Doc Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Well I just got back from monarch computers with a new powerstream 520w. Jumpered this one and I came to life. Now I just need to put everything back together and hopefully my system will boot this time.
Jet Doc Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 It's alive. The new psu did it. Came right to life. Got xp installed and I'm in the middle of the hundreds of updates. Hoping to start overclocking later today. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Jet Doc
