cryptz Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Hi i have a thermaltake bigwater 745. I recently purchased a waterblock for my northbridge chipset. my question is should that be the first thing that my lines goto from the pump, or should i goto the cpu and then the northbridge. The northbridge appears to be more restrictive then the cpu , i know that may hinder performance if it is first, at the same time i thought maybe if its closer to the pump it would go through it faster.. CPDMF Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 It won't make much difference in the order. It's a continous loop so the water will only flow as fast as the most restrictive component allows.
Jimbo Mahoney Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 It won't make much difference in the order. It's a continous loop so the water will only flow as fast as the most restrictive component allows. Quoted for truth. IMO, the only place you want to worry about is the pump suction side. You want that immediate area as free as possible, ideally a res. Daddyjaxx Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 If you are cooling the GPU too, he Bigwater will not handle the load. The pump is a very weak pump that only pushes less than 25 GPH and I would assume the head on the pump is bad as well.
cryptz Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 sigh you may be right, my pump died already and i wasnt even doing the gpu how about the Swiftech MCP350™ 12v Water Pump (Native 3/8") looking at my pump though it says it does 400 lph
MikeTimbers Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 350 is a great little pump and although the flow numbers may seem low it has very good head (pressure) so will work well if you have a restrictive loop.
allthatwhichis Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I have a 350 and love it... It ran my cpu and 2x gpus very well. I am only cooling the cpu with it now, but... I am sure it will flow well with cpu, 2x gpus, and a nb also. I prefer my cpu to be after my rad, logic would say that the coolest water would be right after the rad.
