kr0z Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Now I don't overclock my CPU or any other part contained within my Computer case. I just run everything at stock. Is there a "real" / "noticeable" difference between having memory running at CL2 and CL3? I mean really. Not just hypothetical / synthetic benchmarking information. Will my Far Cry run smoother and faster? Will Word start faster?! Reality check for me. Thanks :tooth:
Smoken Joe Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 No, no real measurable diffrence on the AMD 64 kind of like tits on a frog. Yes the memory tests do better but that is only good for bragging rights and for the poorly designed Intel. (and the older AMD chips). Yea if you are working for a better benchmark score it can help bot those becchmarks are a lot diffrent than real world. Angry and others have done tests on this one is a stickie go search. (I did a quickie test of this to but no need for repeats.

Thanks :tooth: There is a difference but is it worth it? in real terms the answer is not, as far as bench marks go then yes if thats what floats ur boat, if i was to build all over again then i would buy branded value ram as the gains did not really justify the cost, the money i would have saved would have got me a better graphics card and that would have given my a much more rewarding 3D mark score the the faster memory did! Thraxz Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Yeah, good idea. The real performance increases you will see will be from increased memory MHz and even then it's small compared to CPU MHz.
