ciberfog Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 [/img] Ok after made a large research, this is what i want, like the pictures but in blue. Im going for a DFI expert, prob a AMD 3800x2, 2gb of ram (recommend the best please), ATI X1900 XTX 512 mb, 2 HD at 10k rpm, DVDRW, the new Audigy sound card, i need a new psu (i want a modular one, i checked this forum very deep and find that the best modular psu are the OCZ and the hyper modular 580W the hyper modular looks better for what i want, im looking for great performance, thats why im spending lot of money in this project, and of course i want this machine Quiet! 0 noise, looking for a Watercooling (im not expert on that) so i was looking for a Zalman reserator plus 1 just for keep the cpu and gpu cold without noise and the tubes looks nice. so my questions are a few ones: 1. Wich Case can be the best for this project? ATX full case, Cube Case (both in clear version) or go with another case. 2. Wich PSU will be the best for looking and performance (looking for the UV reactive ones or something cool looking like that) 3. Im thinking in Mushkin or OCZ DDR500+ ram, 2gb or 4gb wich model i should get? 4. Water cooling (im a newb on that) should i get Zalman? i read is very easy to install. 5. DFI expert will be my best option? 6. 10k rpm HD wich ones are the best? 7. any other recomendation? Thanks a Lot for the help
OverByter Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 The only 10k drive to talk about is the WD Raptor. My preference is OCZ memory, great performance, even better warranty.
the_PC_Chef Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Whats your budget? Thats one hell of a case modding project your taking on. Im all for it, but if this is your first you might be bitting off a little more than you can chew. If your not dead set on a full acrylic, check out mnpctech.com. They've got lots of helpful tutorials for the first time modder and lots of very nice custom parts. Im currently using some of his designs on an Ultra midtower for a friend of mine and I might use some of his design elements for a little case mini atx case I found in a friends garage. Also from what Ive heard, Windows has problems recognizing 4Gb of ram, you should stick to 2Gb in two sticks.

the_PC_Chef Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 All it takes is time. Don't rush it and you won't be disapointed in the results. Im not a big fan of full acrylic cases b/c they arent as strong as steel or aluminum and they don't cool as well. Also, if you don't clean them regularly, they show alot of dust, smudges and fingerprints. If you want to use water, Dangerden has some very nice high quality kits and, from what others on this forum say, very helpful costumer service. Skip the 10k drive if your not going to get two and run them in RAID0. Get the 80Gb Hitachis and run them in RAID0, they cost half of what one Raptor will cost you.
