What should a newbie go with?

This is gonna be my first self-built PC, used for games like BF2, Civ 4, and hopefully Spore and Crisis, along with some paintshop pro / photoshop when I have the time to learn it. My number 1 concern is compatability and stability. I won't be overclocking like crazy, but the option is open if I feel like it's absolutely necessary.

Here's my wishlist from newegg , but I have questions.

1.) Is the infinity good enough for what I want to do? The only applicable advantage I see to the LanParty Ultra-D is the round IDE cables and extra PCI-Express x16 slot. Maybe I'll go for a PhysX card in a year or two if I go with that.

2.) Is the infinity less picky about memory? Instead of the G.Skill I was thinking about Corsair XMS or OCZ Platinum . 2 x 1GB is required, and I haven't been able to find TCCD or TCC5 DDR400 kits like that.

3.) I included the Scythe Ninja and X2 coolers because I want to keep the CPU as cool as possible and I really don't want a vacuum cooling the X1800XT. Are these good things to keep, or could I get rid of the Ninja?

I'd like to not exceed $1400, because I'll be adding a soundcard too. The problems with X-fi are scaring me into a Audigy 4 from CompUSA for $80.

Moved and I would prbibily just go with the regular Ultra D as more peole are famulitar with it if you should have any issues. I dont really know how it compaires. Everything looks good if it were to be with the regular ultra D. You dont need a burner drive? The High quality NEC is only 11 more usualy with free shipping(new egg doesnt combine shipping :(

If you are a upgrade junky you might want the Fortron 550- though not needed. Both are a lot of bang for the buck.

For overclocking, an Opteron 165 or 170 would be the best. Even if you don't think you're going to OC, you will. I didn't think I would either. Go with the Ultra-D. No point in paying for SLI capability when you are using an ATI video card. Otherwise looks like a good build. I would like to see you change from the Scythe to the Zalman CNPS9500, but I'm a fanboy. You should be happy with that cooler... :)
