freakyGameR Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 did u mean my nmb fans is weak?? erm hard to find delta fans in my local.. but pushing 69.9CFM is not enuff yet?? ermm
ChiMax96 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I've read you can use the Thermalright HSF in either Blowing or Sucking mode, but obviously if you change it, you need to change the fans feeding air and exhausting air, their alignment. Hawk454 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I already did the side panel experiment you mentioned and I will tell you the results. With a side panel duct in place directly over the CPU I ran the fan in both directions. When the fan was blowing out of the side panel duct, the CPU ran warmer because it was pulling heated case ambient temperatures as an intake. This was only 1~2'Celsius but it was consistent between Prime95 and 3dmark05 along with BF2. The air exhausting the side panel still felt cool to the hand so it seemed like the air did not linger on the heatsink to heat up much. No additional benefits were seen on the PWMIC or system memory temperatures. With the side panel duct fan blowing on the CPU heatsink the CPU temperature immediately dropped 1~2' celsius in all tests performed and the PWMIC temps dropped 3~4' Celsius. I used some ducting to vent the cpu exhaust over the PWMIC and system ram and then out the back of the case to utilize this cool air intake path. The air exiting the back of the case still feels cool to the hand but is warmer than when blowing out the side panel duct. I felt this was a much better indication that I was getting rid of more heat generated by the system. This is an easy experiment to duplicate. Kandoo Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 You will want to blow the air down onto the mobo. (this also helps cool the ram) If you need cool outside air for your cpu install a side fan or duct it?
freakyGameR Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 hawk454, was it looks nice?? i'm still studying my case airflow.. It needs try n error anyway.. Isnt it??
Hawk454 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Experimenting is always beneficial as you find what works best with your specific equipment in your specific environment and you gain some practical knowledge. Try using cardboard to make some ducting to deliver cheap, nearly free, fresh air paths. It does not have to be permanent but will give you evidence to formulate a conclusion. And most of all it can be fun.
freakyGameR Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 sounds interesting, i'm gonna try that.. its fun!!
UncleDavid218 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 No question blowing would be the best. It cools down the fins, thus resulting in better temps.
