EdLSmith Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I have a P-180 with an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe running an Intel 3.4 GHZ EE 'Gallatin'. It has been running at 40C idle for over a year and I have had it hitting 69C for extended runs with moddest loads. I have had it at 85C on at least one occaision. I read about the CoolIT Chiller here and the review pointed to, a few weeks ago and ordered it from Frozencpu.com, that is preordered it. That was 13 March, I just got it a few days ago and finally having read and re-read installation instructions, have installed it. The installation turned out to be quite simple and with trepedation, I booted up. The system came right up and first report was 30C. It is now running idle at 24C-26C. Working temp when Ripping DVDs and processing Mpeg to Divx are around 33C. I am keeping an eye on Dewpoint temps with the high humidity we have in Georgia. Dewpoint was 53F this morning but that's about 20F below what I am operating at. Condensation should not be a problem. I have not made any adjustments although there is a provision for it. It is much quieter than I had thought it would be. I removed two fans, CPU HS.Fan and Exhaust fan. These were both at high rpm's. The chiller fan is quiet. I was so impressed, I ordered a second which is going in my HTPC which I am putting in a 180. Anyone want a couple of WaveMaster cases( one Blue and one Aluminum)? Daddyjaxx Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Condensation will never be a problem with that. It will throttle the temperature to prevent it from occuring. IMO, WAY too much money to cool just a CPU no better than a w/c setup for less than 200.00. But hey, good luck with your new toy. If you do not concern your self about condensation, you either live in Denver or somewhere like that. Our Humidity runs up into the 90% catagory down here. It would not surprise me to find dewpoint at 85F on some days through the summer. I have a W/C rig. Started with $200 and kept making improvements to about $1400.00. Of course one has to have the original G5 at $165 and the double pumps and, and, and!!! Yeh, I started to order a heater core for $20 and what do I have? Good intentions and my wife not watching my budget.

Daddyjaxx Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I only live about 80 miles from you. This is straight from the product description about condensation: Regulated Temperature Control Because of the extreme cooling capacity the Freezone product provides, there is a TCM (Thermal Control Module) built into the system to protect against over-cooling and condensation. The TCM regulates the amount of power that is applied to the TECs and exhaust fan. The TCM will automatically vary system level output to adjust for changes in both ambient temperature and CPU load. This complies with Energy Star standards.
Spyvie Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 The website says it's sold out. Also, keep in mind that the dewpoint ouside as reported by the weather guy is not the same as the dewpoint indoors. Boiling some pasta or running a dishwasher or just a lot of people will raise the indoor dewpoint.
eelemus Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 i still dont understand how it prevents condensation while keeping your cpu cool.....now i am new to cater cooling and do not have a w/c setup yet, but hopefully will soon enough
Daddyjaxx Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 And air conditioning will lower it.
