Paco454 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I read there is an issue using this add-on physics cards with nForce 4 based mother boards. Will there be any issue using this card with my board, the Lanparty UT N4 SLI-D? Has there been any testing? I found this info here (LINK BELOW) under section 4 that mentions a N4 issue. What issue? I don't know. Perhaps somebody can look into this and see if DFI users are ok with this new card. I'm excited about this new card. Here's the link to this info I found. Look at section 3 (What PC slots will the PhysX HW plug into? Are there any potential issues with these?). Then section 4 on the following page. http://support.ageia.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=1949 Please let me know what you think about the card and anything you find that may be of interest such as this N4 issue, if there is one. Oceanborn Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Didn't find any section 4 on that link...this card has just been released...too soon to be blaming on the nforce4 I think...I don't think a lot of people have that yet....plus, there's only one game if memory serves me right that takes any advantage of this card....so I'd wait until the platform is mature enough to justify the investment
Guest GripS Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hold off on buying one until it's been thoroughly tested and proven to provide a significant performance increase. Otherwise just get a bad butt video card.
sailindawg Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Otherwise just get a bad butt video card. Either that or just get an SLI set-up. From what ATI and Nvid have been saying, they are both teaming up with the Havok physics engine folks to offer physics with SLI. One card handles the physics, the other the graphics. Read HardOCP's article on Dx10 (or D3D 10) and Viste. Physics may really take off with Viste within the next 1-2 years. Even if we, as gamers, don't see it, other 3D applications such as CAD design or other 3D simulators should get a real boost. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA== For right now, I'd skip the seperate physics card, there are no games at the moment that really support it, and get an SLI system. Blaise Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I'd wait a while (as has already been said). In the meantime, have a look at this review of the ASUS card (BFG has one too): ASUS PhysX review at Anandtech. Pay special attention to the test results on page 3. From what ageia have been saying, you will need SLI aswell as there card, or you will end up with less fps, not something most of us want.
