Thanks for look at this post

I have a AMD X2 3800

Mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 500 (PC 4000)

Sapphire ATI X1900 XTX 512 MB

Western 120 GB HD

SONY 16x Dual layer DVDRW

i have a 520W PSU not the best brand, prob will get a ULTRA X2 X-CONNECT 550W MODULAR PSU

Well my question is easy, i want the best mobo for this hardware, looking for small overcloking, just to put my cpu, my ram, and my vc, to overkill my games (oblivion, bf2, fear)

thanks for the help, maybe a noob question, but im trying to learn.

first, no dont get an ultra PSU - they are not strong enough for DFI and overclocking. try Enermax or OCZ for PSU's.

second, the Ultra-D would be the safest bet for your rig but the new cf3200- dr would be the most fun and offers the best future proofing.

third - welcome to DFI street.

I've only owned one DFI motherboard ever...and it's the DFI RS482 Infinity. I wasn't looking to SLI in the future...and I was hoping to have it double at somepoint as an HTPC. For $99 I couldn't beat it...I've got my Opteron 146 overclocked to 2.7 GHZ with no real work involved. Change a couple of settings and run Prime95. Solid as a rock...on default voltages.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of other opinions...and I'm not actually expecting anyone to say this is the best DFI board. Cost and versatility sold it to me...and I'm overjoyed with the results.

See the PSU stickie. Generaly speaking the modualr PSU's are really not recomended as highly as the normal ones as they are less stable and often supply less power than an identical regular PSU. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854

I just switched from an Ultra-D to an Expert. My personal preference leans to the Expert but the Ultra-D is still a great board.

122 dollars for an ultra-D vs 180 dollars for an Expert worth it ?

To me it was. OC picked up some, RAM overclocks much better, the real seller for me was the layout of the board and the space between the PCI-E slots, no more NB temp probs, routing of water cooling is much better and able to work on the rig without everything in the way. Allowed for a much cleaner install and the OC was a bonus.

Should be all good man, check my sig to see what I'm running. Seriously think about getting the DFI CFX-3200-DR (I'm getting one of these), as you already have a top-end ati card, you may want to go crossfire (if not this gen, then next?).

I'm running a 485w Enermax PSU and its all sweet. I would definitely be upgrading it to a 600W+ Enermax, OCZ or something better if I was to get crossfire.

Wire cable control = ? If you want tidy cables, get cable sleeving (UV). The Enermax I have had one lot of black cable sleeving over the main power connector only. Has fan speed control too. Obviously 485w would probably be a minimum for you - I have just had this PSU for a while now, and it's been very good to me (32A dual 12v Rail under max strain - each rail rated at 18A a piece.)

Make sure you get a good PSU, I have seen too many friend's in tears due to death of a crappy "cheap" or modular psu.
