Please help, machine won't boot!

Recommended Posts

I tried to search the forums but I couldn't find anything quite like the problem that I am experiencing. I put together my new machine yesterday and everything went without a hitch more or less. I left my machine on all night downloading updates and what not and when I woke up there was no signal being sent to the monitor and my machine sounded like it was trying to POST over and over again. I was getting some strange errors on the LED so I started using selective interchange to pinpoint the issue. Here are the trouble shooting steps taken so far:

1. I ended up unplugging everything except the CPU and I was still having the same issues.

2. Swapped out the CPU with a known good 4400+, still the same thing.

3. Swapped out with known good PSU, still the same issues.

4. Tried using the jumper to clear the CMOS

Note: When I try turning the power on without the CPU, it just displays a minus "-" sign. I haven't tried with only RAM and I haven't removed the battery.

Here is a pic of what type of things blink on my LED, it pauses at "C1" the longest

I also took a video:

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, I am at work right now but I tried to update my sig with the most accurate information possible. I am about to taking lunch now and I will try a few more things and try to gather any more information that I think would be useful. Thanks again everyone~

Pull the battery and move cmos clear jumper to pins 2/3 for a couple of hours and then put battery back > 'then' put cmos jumper to pins 1/2 and retest. It sounds like the board may have died. That is about the length of time most electronic components run and then fail > IF they are going to fail.

i had the same issue, i thought the board was dead, and i had the same code c1 thats where it hung the longest, c1 refers to ur ram, i thought the board was dead, but i moved the ram sticks around and it worked, the board is very sensitive, if my memory stick is a little loose it wont boot, it happened to me again couple of weeks ago, i would just push on the memory and it will boot right back up, hopefully that helps.

good luck

AWESOME! Haha my motherboard did not have the speaker on by default so I thought that it just wasn't beeping  I actually had left 1 RAM stick out because I thought that it might keep the machine more stable until I got the bios update, but it doesn't seem to want to boot without both sticks... whatever lol. Thanks a lot for the help :D
