Is this fan needed?

Hello. WHen I had a passive zalman cooler, I had an 80 mm fan posted on the HD bay facing the side of the cooler, but it did not blow a lot of air since it was right up against stuff, and a 120mm fan 4" away from it, tied to the HD bay facing the top of the cooler.

Wen it is on around 6 volts, as low as it'll operate, is it moving any air over there at all since it is 4" away? I have the evercool vc-re now, and figure that and the zalman 700 on my vid card should provide enough airflow. At 6-8v low speeds, is that 120mm fan really doing any good? I could take it out and use it for something else, or just have less noise to deal with.

I can't tell what the chipset temp is since the DAGF has no sensor there, and my case's temp sensors are busted. I made sure the vc-re was doing something by overclocking, running processor intensive stuff and games, then turning the fan off.. and all cooling off along with the processor intensive stuff, and it was very hot so I know it's put on right.

a 120mm fan will move air pretty good up to 2 meters lol...pretty much tho imo fans that arnt directly involved in pulling air in or blowing it out are just swirling hot air around in the case. that 120 would do its best work on the side blowing in some cool air.

Keep in mind that, for all intended purposes, the fan is moving as fast as any 120mm fan around 5.5-6v.

I think I might remove it. I can't even feel the air on my fingers when it's on that low near the chipset area.
