DBA_Diver Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I just set up a new system on an NF4 Ultra-D. I have RAID turned on for SATA channels 1 and 2 and a DVD burner on IDE channel 1. I am trying to take the IDE hard drive out of my old computer and hook it up to the other channel on the IDE cabel, but it's not recognized by the BIOS when I boot the comptuer. It's been a long time since I've done anything like this, do I just need to change the jumper settings? If so, to what? The IDE HD is an IBM Deskstar dlta-307075 and it does list several different jumper configs on the back but I tried a few of them and can't get it to show up in the BIOS when I boot. Is it possible to have a single IDE hard drive be recognized when I'm running RAID on SATA channels 1 & 2? Thanks, DBA_Diver
uneedav8 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 If the drive is connected to the end of the IDE cable, the jumper needs be set to master or cable select.
DBA_Diver Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I have it on the end of the IDE cable. I've tried both the master and cable select jumper settings and no luck. The drive works fine in my old system. Is there a BIOS setting I have to change to make the IDE hard drive work when I am using SATA RAID or something? Thanks, DBA_Diver
learners permit Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Try a manual detection on the IDE channel its connected to.
