Booting Problems

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the noob question guys. My setup has been working fine now for a few months. I had recently switch my 2x512 corsair CL2 xms pros w/ the bling bling leds for 2x1024 corsair xms CL2 w/ the silver heatsink. With the 2 1gig modules in there......it will not post. They are placed in the yellow slots like the 2x512 (2.5.3.3.6) were when everything was working. From what it seems like from the corsair web site.....the latency is the same with both pairs. The only thing I have done so far is reset the BIOS and tested the memory in another machine to make sure the memory is ok.....they are fine. It still wont post and getting dram beeps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like some insight before I switch out ram...change BIOS settings......switch out ram again etc.

I don't know if the issue you are having is the same one I experienced but the memory I am using is Corsair XMS3200 Platinum 2 x 1GB sticks in orange slots. PC would do the DRAM beeps and I thought the problem was motherboard so I RMAd it and sent it for repair (had run an 8 hour memtest with no probs on a different machine). Motherboard came back "repaired" (no idea what they did but the revision had change from AA0 to B revision) and I still have the same problem.

I chucked in 2 x 512MB sticks from another PC and my machine works fine. Going to take the memory back this weekend.

I am not sure, but have seen some guys said that "some" Corsaires have an issue with the mobo..

What you can do first is, insert the old mem sticks which you were running before because you know they are fine.. thne make sure the mobo is ok..

If it works, then it must be a issue with the 2gig kit.

Try to find if there is a bios that would support that new ram. Look in the database to find a guy with your same ram and see what bios he's using...

Maybe you can try flashing to 623 bios.. there are 3 versions..

If you new ram works on another machine, and if you mobo works with the old ram, it must be a incompatibility..
