3800 X2 Overclocking question

Recommended Posts

How well does the A64 guide apply to overclocking this cpu? Is there anything I should be aware of specifically? Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks Guys! Glad to finally be part of the crew (couldnt afford it) ;)

well to start u have a decent setup there and u should have no problem with getting ur mhz up to 2500.

fsb bus frequency 250

ldt/fsb frequency ratio 4X

cpu/fsb frequency ration 10

u should easily get that with stock voltages.

wen i got my x2 3800 not 2 long ago that was my first overclock attempt and it worked perfect.

if u want, give it a try and keep us informed on how its going.

I had some stability issues at 250 fsb and stock voltages, but a 4% voltage increase has made it rock solid @ 2500 MHz. I'd like to push it a bit more, but I don't want to significantly decrease the life of the processor.

I plan on testing it at 260 and 270 fsb with a maximum voltage increase of 10%.

The manchester core doesn't seem to overclock as well as the toledo, though.

I'd suggest you follow the OC guide and start off by taking the ram out of the equation for now and find the max on your cpu which is prime stable at a Vcore you are comfortable with. Do the same with your ram, take cpu out of the equation and find the max. Here is a bit of help with your board and ram.

Great tonight I'll go ahead and start the process. Gotta prime the water sys and then take it nice and slow as per the guides instructions. Ill be sure to post my prime95 runs and 3dmark benches.

Thanks,

Vec
