Montol Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 A friend of mine is newly interested in overclocking, but as previously mentioned, he has unwisely invested, sorry, no, wasted, his money on a Dell. Is there any way to do it? Because the BIOS is so rudimentary it sickens me. Just a friendly question.

O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Yea unfortunately "premade" systems (Dell,Compaq,HP,etc) are not o/cable
GmAz Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 What about with software, i know its not the best way, but it something. Also, what about modding the auctual pins of the chip under the mobo. can you change the multiplier with that. And if all else fails, take the cpu out of the dell (if it is good) and buy a mobo and stuff
Montol Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Yeah, I might just tell him to do that. Rip the guts out, salvage the usable stuff and actually make a system that doesn't bite.
Newb_ocer Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Wouldnt you just need a new bios..... In turn making you buy a new mobo.....
bigred Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 nope, new case, new ps,new mobo and no you cna't oc them with software. it's not like an hp or sony that has an asus board with a de-nutted bios but still has the right clock gen. it's got NOTHING to oc. bigred Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 look again. dells have a third (second on PIII's) plug to the mobo. for some reason without this plug they won't boot at all. PS spins the fan a little and makes an awful whining sound if you try to use it with another mobo. once again thankyou dell for being so stuck up. Newb_ocer Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Dell was made for n00bs that dont want to go thru the trouble of making their own computers. Still its digusting how much they charge and how sometimes crappy the ram and mobo's are.
