centy Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Slight performance loss / defeats the purpose of paying for nice low latency RAM. It really should work at 2-6-2-2.
Daddyjaxx Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Do not put 3.2v into Ballistix memory unless you want it fried. My current settings are 2.5-3-3-7 at HTT of 237 with 2.6v. The max I can get this memory is 268 at 2.5-3-37. It doesn't matter if I loosen the timings or go up to 3.0v. That is it. It does no more. Sharp Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 These modules are rated 2.8v, you should not need (and should not use) more than that. There is no point trying to fault find or make your PC stable with an underpowered PSU. You are just wasting your time. If you want to test the memory try it in another pc that is stable. pepinokid01 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Hey Sharp, well I ran Memtest for a while...and i got no errors. but when I go to install windows, I goes through formatting and setup, and when it goes to restart to get windows going, an error message comes up, telling me that "Windows could not start because of computer disk hardware configuration problem".....what do I do now????I tried changing the boot setup...but nothing seems to work... Sharp Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 New PSU Memtest must be stable for at least 3 hours.
centy Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Or more.. my overclock failed Prime95 after 5 hours yesterday, I'm pretty sure it wasnt heat either. Passed 10 hours after lowering timings a little.
pepinokid01 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Would a Modular Type-R 580W Power Supply (630W Peak) SLI Ready +12V1@18A, +12V2@20A be enough as a replacement for my underpowered PSU?? I mean its seem well to me... And what does it mean for a PSU to be modular??
centy Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 The Hiper should be sufficient. Modular means you can plug in only the wires you need.
