wanksta Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 (edited) "ive seen about 10 sticks of 2700xms and all would do 200fsb @cas2.5 3-3-6 that would bve the easiast way to get to 3000+ 10.5x200fsb =3000+" to do this (above) with my setup do i have to change the jumper on my mobo to 200 fbs? and do i need to change any of the ram settings through the advanced bios or will it over clock itself once i oc the cpu? Hades25 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 yes just up the fsb in the bios and lower your clock speed....with that mobo and ram you'll prob be able to get past the 200 mark ...depends on cooling too
howie b Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 btw you wont have to change the jumper to do that....just chnage in the BIOS, and viola 3000+ (or 3200+ if you want to be more aggressive)
wanksta Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 (edited) thanks i have good cooling like 9 fans, but will i have to change any of the ram settings in the bios? or will upping the fbs and lowering the multiplyer do the job? i just tried, but my ram frequency is still at 166, what do i have to change to get it to 200, or is 166 right? i tried to fix this through the bios by setting the system preformance to agressive, so the memory timeing would match that of the cpu, both 200mHz. is that right? would it be better if ram is at 200 as well as the processer? if so how do i change it? it is at 200 X 11.0 2.19ghz 3200+, with stock vcore and temp of 34C thanks for your help Edited September 29, 2003 by wanksta
Hades25 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 well your barton does run at 333 but upping your ram settings will help a lot.... in the bios is shouls be on the same screen as the screen you change your multiplier.... it should say bus speed or front side bus or something like that...and you have to set it to expert so you can change it..depending on the mobo its recommended that you dont up it more than 5 mhz at a time.... you memory is only supposed to run at 333 but you can get it higher than that..... and the timings you can mess with too..mine are set at 6-2-2-2.5 and my machine is running stable ... you should be able to get a CL of 2 with that ram you have ... my pny ram wont do it.... you should also burn in the cpu....meaning up your fsb to a nice stable setting and leave it that way for a couple weeks and then try to oc it more...some ppl like to burn in every 1 mhz .. i dont have the patience for that...but that is the best way to get the most out of burning in the chip
FanATIc205 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 (edited) also on nf2 boards running the cas to ras @11 wil lgive you better performance cas2.5-3-3-11 also raise your vdimm to 2.8 or higher but dont go over 2.9 since you just get diminshed returns on most ram past 2.9 in the bios set the ram to run @100% or synced i bet you got it set to spd in the bios is why its staying at 166 with ther fsb @200 Edited September 29, 2003 by fanATIc1205
