Moving to socket 939, what's a good board?

A friend is interested in buying my present rig, see sig below. I would like to use the proceeds to move up to some newer hardware. I'd like to stay with DFI since the support is the best and the boards perform very well indeed.

Since I'm very happy with my present setup i haven't done much research into all the new S939 boards available. I'm not a big gamer but do run Flt sims with everything maxed so I don't need SLI. I do a fair amount of video editing and would like more functioning SATA ports (my only beef with my present board the port1-2 240MHz issue). Don't need a board with lots of weird (issues) that need to be worked out and would like to run a cheap Sempi and OC the hell out of it.

When dual core procs prices come down I would upgrade to a new proc.

Speaking of OCing S939 Sempi's, what would be a good bin for getting about 200MHz over my present DTR's 2.5MHz which is very stable.

Thanks in advance for any info!

You might have a hard time getting a sempy. Look at the Athlon64 3000+ / 3200+'s if you can't find a sempy. These are usually pretty cheap, and overclock well (many people get well over 2600MHz with decent cooling).

Thanks for the quick replies!

dab,

Just checked, Sempi's are not made(or sold by Newegg) in the S939 formfactor, I should have known this basic fact. I've put togeather many Semperon based S754 systems and every proc has clocked above 2.4GHz. The newer .9nm CPU's perform clock for clock better than the 1M cache DTR Claw that I'm using. Ill check about the AMD 64 OC results.

Frostscythe,

The opty 144 looks like a decent proc. Some Newegg reports show low overclock results however. I'd hate to get a dud and end up with a system downgrade instead of an upgrade. The 146 looks to have better results but is a little out of my price range.

I take it from your sig that you are having no problems with your SATA ports at 264HTT. Would the same hold true with a 300+ HTT? required by a 9x multiplier CPU. Also, while 8 ports would be wonderfull, I could get by with 4 ports that run to 300HTT, would the non SLI version do this.

DFI makes a board called the Infinity, is this a decent board? Sorry it's just cheaper than the Lanpartys, I'm short of extra $$ due to tax payments.

Thanks again for all your help!
