Win64 or Win32 while waiting for Vista?

I don't have much experience with win64 as my new processor will be my 1st 64bit one that can even run win64. I've heard differing opinions about staying on win32 as it will still benefit from the performance increase of the proc and be more compatible.

What are you thoughts and has win64 shaped up since it initial inception?

Thank you in advance.

I would use Windows 32-BIT version until Vista arrives hopefully next year since i've heard it's been delayed. The 64-BIT version is so buggy you wouldn't know where to start dude. Maybe some have gotten it working but which applications and drivers are they using? You'll probably have different applications so don't even bother...that's what i would do. Stay with Windows 32bit....

I installed x64 to try and solve a pc problem i'm struggling with..

anyway so far it's all been ok except:

no nvidia wdm drivers for vivo - which means no webcam.

azureus turns off my second monitor whenever it's launched.. weird lol

saitek x45 joystick 64bit drivers don't allow calibration - which renders them unuseable with custom software and custom button settings.

other than those niggles it's sweet as a nut.

the only thing of course is that I don't really see any gain or benefit from using winxp x64.. so am sort of considering returning to 32bit if i can get my problem sorted and dont mind another reformat.

so in conclusion, it's fun to be on x64, apart from some specialised niggles you might discover for your particular config but ultimately is there really that much to gain from it?

Sorry Mack27 but I have to disagree. x64 Edition is not buggy. It's more stable than 32bit.

BlindGuardian, you should do a dual boot with both. Load XPpro and than use the x64 Edition Trial and find out for yourself. Search the forum as this question has been asked many times over the last year. Tons of info on x654 at www.planetAMD64.com
