dr1Zz Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 i RMA'd and am thinking of picking up the FSP FX700-GLN quad rails and $170. i wanted modular and future, but, i guess the tech hasn't caught up yet. The Silverstone Strider i believe is quad rail too, but, FSP is a solid PSU company so i think i am gonna go that route. From everything that i read (wish i did it befire i bought the liberty) is that there is a load balancing issue with dual rail PSU's. that said single rail and quad rail(better balanced) have a lot better time operating at good levels. Supposedly you hafta load the 3.3v, and the 5v rails to a balance with the 12v rail on the dual rails which is straight up retarded. anyway, GL whith your next choice.. Edit: little review of the FSP along with the liberties http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/dis...-roundup_5.html

dimmerlimsen Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I had "initial" problems with my enermax liberty 500w but showed up to be a rookie error from my side as i did not connect the 4pin P4 12v connector as i could not find it, the board did not boot. Found out later that the 8-pin connector was "splittable" and i connected it and it worked 100% rock solid ever since, doing Opteron 165 @ 2,7Ghz on water and the PSU is the most silent iwe ever owned! QUALITY!

Isildur Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I remenber a thing, with levicom i don´t need the extra power connections(hdd&fdd molex) to run. Could be posible that with enermax need this extra connections to run??
dab Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 There are 4 connections you MUST make: 24 pin power, 4 pin power, 4 pin molex, 4 pin floppy. you 4 pin power connector is the 8 pin which splits in half. You have a modular cable which has both the 4 pin molex and 4 pin floppy connectors on it that you will need as well.
Isildur Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006  Could be that??? With levicom run well without floppy and hdd...
dimmerlimsen Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Well, most likely its that, in _my_ case i was CRAZY no boot, i didnt think not connecting the P4 connector would make a diff, but it made ALL the difference. So now u know i have enermax 500w and it was a boot - no boot difference. good luck
Isildur Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I see some users with this problem with liberty. Im waiting for Rma´s unit to try again. If don´t works fine, are the enermax noisetaker 600w a good change or this psu have the same problems? Thanks.
red930 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Not sure what you mean by, "i didnt think not connecting the P4 connector would make a diff,". The P4 power connetor provides current directly to the CPU power circuits. It is a required connection just like all four power connections on these motherboards. Isildur Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 My issue is different, i have a cheap psu that with 24 and p4 connections runs solid rock with mobo, cpu, 2 dvd units, 1 hd 200gb sata, 2x 120mm fan, 1x140mm fan, and overclock without problems, and enermax no even trying with fdd and hdd. Im waiting for rma to know whats the problem.
