Ody Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Hey all! I have a bit of an issue with my opteron 165. First Ill list all relevant parts of the cpu aswell as bios settings than i will go into the problem. RIG; AMD Opteron 165 DFI-Lan Party nF4 Sli-D 2GB x OCZ PC 4000 Gold XTC The Bios is as follows; FSB Frequency 289mhz LDT x3.0 CPU Multi x9.0 CPU Vid 1.425 LDT Volt 1.3 Chip 1.6 DRAM 2.7 DRAM Frequency Set 133 2/03 cpc enable tcl 3.0 trcd 04 tras 08 trp 03 trc 07 trfc 14 trrd 02 twr 02 twtr 02 trwt 03 tref 4708 DRAM bank interleave enabled DQS skew control increase skew DQS skew value 255 DRAM drive strength level 8 DRAM data drive stength level 3 Max async latency 0.80 nano seconds DRAM response normal Read preamble time 0.60 nano seconds idlecycle limit 256 cycles dynamic counter disable r/w queue bypass 16x bypass max 07x 32 byte granularity disable 4 bursts Finally to the issue at hand; At the volts above the cpu is stable , however the second i try to do anything with the ram setting that isnt the DRAM frequency set the PC goes into a reboot loop. It gets to just before the windows boot screen and will continue to reboot until i turn it off or i enter bios. Now, it is important to know i am fairly new to overclocking so please give me clear instructions if you can. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the messy post. twivel Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Your sig is set as "not important". It is important Please update it as the rules of the forum dictate. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you start out by going to www.bleedingedge.com and check the OCZ support forum for specific mem settings for that memory and your board. Note that changing RAM speeds or timings may increase the stress on the mem controller requiring more voltage.
CamB Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 There are a few things which could affect it, not least of which from my own experience with my CPU the 623 bios wouldn't let me use the 133/140/150/166 dividers... whereas the 0704-2BTA does (ok, only tried 166, but it's good). Start with the basics - if you run the ram at 1:1, can you do the rated speed (9x250).
