Tatung Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I am wondering why there is not such a thing. If someone can invent a computer case that is like a small refrigerator, and put every computer components all inside, and looks like a normal computer case, that would be great. No need for all kinds cooling fans running around.

red930 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 because the motor would die from constantly running Pretty much it, you'd have to have a really high quality high efficiency motor to be able to last a couple years. You'd also need to have a pretty good dehumidifier built into it and drain that every couple of days. Probably be too big for many users as well and too expensive to really work efficiently. You'd still need some good heatsinks on everything producing heat as well.
fst h2o Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Don't forget expensive and heavy as well...
Guest thespin Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 There is a case that includes a whole-case peltier cooling system. I don't remember who makes it but it has been reviewed and works as advertised ... about a 6*C drop if memory serves ... Grunt_Style Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 ive seen airconditioned cases. but refrigeraed just isn a viable option. componens are constantly producing heat. this counters the refrigeraors work. food doesnt constantly produce heat therefore it isnt always fighting the refrigeraion. like they all said a moter would be overworked and burntout in no time. and a unit would never get the cold temps a nnormal fridge would get. the closest thing to refrigeration type cooling would be a phased chiller. 'Chilly one' over at the extreme overclockers forums will make you one for about 1,000 bucks. ie heard theyre great quality include a LEd front panel to control it. and you can get temps in the negitive degrees. i was talking to a guy tha had one of chill'ys units and he had his X2 4400 running at 3.0 and -12 degrees. red930 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Refrigeration cycle? Hmm...sounds to me like a phase change cooling system would fall into that category. They're just a vapor compression cycle for computer components. Too bad they're $$$$$. Maybe if I get bored, I'll write something up about how an ideal vapor compression refrigeration cycle works. I might be more inclined if people were interested
UncleDavid218 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I just put my machine in my window during winter, well, not for long, but it works. Got my CPU down to 6c, GPU to 4c, and case temp down all the way to 16c
PL4YD34D Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 i am currently working on a 'water rad in a fridge' system. ive put the rad in a water bath and put the bath in a mini fridge, then carbon drilled holes for tubing and siliconed them in. not been able to test yet due to funding but ther work in progress will be posted as soon as i have some results. i am also working on a low cost small delta temp a/c unit and cold airflow system for literally piping chilled air through my si120 using a shroud and draft piping stuck on my 120mm fan. mwuhahahahaha!! all results to come as and when. now if i could just find that check book..... Squid1 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Why there is not such invention "Fridge Computer Case"? Condensation would quickly kill computers inside.
Evil_inc Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 You can air condition your case with this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...52001&CatId=805 but a fridge is made to keep the some air cool with out the objects inside gaining heat, thus the fridge would be ineffictive.
