Pain79 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 How do u get the stepping info .. I did not even look at the cpu lol when installin just installed it and I forgot to take a pix before installing. As far as it beeing dual prime stable It prolly wont be but IT has been gaming stable and thats all I care even if it was dual prime stable I woulndt leave it liek that on air, I was gamin like 5 hours at these settings no crashes no nothing and it did run super pi and few other benchies but ya I know dual prime stable 12+hrs
malvare1 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 your row recicle time in your a64 screenie is different than the numbers below. whichone is it ? THANKS
Pain79 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 What chip steppings do you have? This is a nice overclock. Trying to dispel that rumor that the 3800's don't overclock as well as the opty's, aren't you?!?!? *chuckle* Better?
twivel Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 You have to take the heatsink off to get your stepping info.
Pain79 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I will take it off as soon as a get better cooling solution right now I will probly not keep these settings for everyday use. P.s Sorry guys went for a nap I didnt sleep much as gamin almost all night and went to get some sleep.
rhiridflaidd Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 My OCZ gold should be arriving today. I'll be trying out these timings first! (p.s. I'm another UT2004 addict)
rhiridflaidd Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Right- this is looking good so far (very early days, only 30 mins testig so far.) The memory's gone half way through memtest at 280mhz; so I dropped it down to 270mhz and booted into windows. It's passed dual superpi 1M, and has done5 mins of prime at 270 (previously I'd be falling over after a few seconds at 270mhz of priming.) It started memtest at 290mhz happily enough (cpu multi at x9) - but there were artefacts on the memtest screen - wrong characters etc. I dunno what that means! I'm using these settings at the moment FSB Bus Frequency............................. 270 MHz LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio....................... rhiridflaidd Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 p.s. DRAM drive strength at 4 stabilised my 3d applications; which were crashing at "normal"
rhiridflaidd Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Update - I've got increased stability in my rig. currently 265mhz x10 mem 1:1 memtest 8h passed. It's running dual prime now; but it's passed the first step of 2x primes and 2x superpi; until superpi completed - the fastest way I've found to generate errors. Changes 1. 3-4-4-8 changed to 3-4-4-9 (Somebody pointed this out in the forum yesterday and I can't find his post to give him credit; that the last number can benefit from being at least be the sum of the first 2 numbers and another 2 so for a system that starts 2-2-2 it needs to be 2-2-2-6 3-4-4 needs 3+4+2 =9 2. The memory's been used heavily for a week and is burned in 3. I also turned up my fan speeds - what's the point of the pretty little holes in the heatspreaders if you cant get some air blowing into them! Important note for non dual core users - this memory would go far faster without the extra stresses dual core testing puts on the memory. Pain79 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 congrats keep me/us posted hehe I was sorta stable that is could run ut2k4 for 6+hrs at 280 1:1 1t with no probs just not dual prime stable
rhiridflaidd Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 If you ever want a propper game of UT2004; pop over to the Titan 32 man server; that's where I play (!) And with my current rig; once again i'm "ready" for a game start far before anybody else. (Hehe) 265 is all I need - that's how far my processors will go. So we'll see how this dual prime will go - as long as my kids don't go and mess with the PC and turn prime off today (!)
