andrew1173 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 I just purchased an Asus A7n8x motherboard. I currently have a stick of Corsair XMS pc3000. Since I can't find this memory anywhere for the second stick, can I match it with Corsair Value Select pc3200 (Don't feel like spending more for more XMS) for the dual channel memory to work? LobbDogg Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 I seriously doubt that will work in dual channel mode. Generally dual channel want to use the same model of memory. let alone different speeds.

andrew1173 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 So if I purchase another Corsair XMS pc3000, it should work fine in dual mode?

andrew1173 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 What would happen if I changed the bios to work in dual mode with the corsair pc3000 and pc3200?
andrusk Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 You cant change it in the bios, its something that is done automatically when you have the ram sticks in the proper spots. And if the board doesnt like the ram sticks, it wont put itself in dual channel mode.

andrew1173 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 What is the guarentee that if I purchase the exact memory, again two corsair pc3000 xms, it will work? Also, don't they have to be pc3200?
AYoKoNA Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 It will work with either of the two. You can either have two pc3000 or two pc3200 the choice is yours depending on how much clocking your doing. I recommend getting two pc3200.
