OoK WooT'N Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Howdy all, I'm new to all this biz and after many months, I've finally gathered enough pieces to put a system together. However, I can't get the OS to boot properly. It continuously tries to reboot to CD-ROM after initial setup. Here is what I've tried so far: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=461999 User name Hung Mung01 and http://dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php...ight=maxtor+ide Much gratitude for any new ideas
Voltes-5 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 After it does all its business and the OS prompts you to reboot, press delete and go to bios and set your first boot to HD and leave the 2nd and 3rd disabled. It should boot the HD and after it boots to Windows will prompt you to insert disc with OS.
dab Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 !!!! So many suggestions in there, no one mentioned CLEARING THE CMOS? I had the exact error message you described after a couple of suicide benchmark attempts. Couldn't get it to boot no matter what. Was at a loss, then thought to try what everyone always suggests as a fix for almost anything on these boards: The DFI Way of clearing the cmos Guess what, it worked like a charm! OoK WooT'N Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I believe i've tried the 'DFI Way of clearing cmos' a few times now. Including an 8hr+ clear suggested by exRoadie, somewhere in these forums.

Also, in different arrangements.
blick Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Is your HDD proper detected by BIOS? Did you format the HDD? What OS are you trying to install and at what point the system is trying to reboot from CD?

blick Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Your problem didn't seem to be related to mem settings. Your PSU is inadequate. Did you try to test your HDD with some DOS applications?
