law_freak Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 When applying AS5 to the IHS, how should a cover it? Just a drop in the middle and let the heatsink spread it, or should I cover the entire thing?
red930 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 When applying AS5 to the IHS, how should a cover it? Just a drop in the middle and let the heatsink spread it, or should I cover the entire thing? Follow the directions on their website, I believe they say just put a drop in the middle, has always worked for me just fine.
mrzeld Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 i believe the artic silver website suggests spreading out the as5 yourself to ensure you have good/even coverage. which is what i suggest also. applying as5 is not the time to become lazy and just put a blob in the middle! just make sure not to put too much on there. put a blob in the middle, but then spread it out yourself (that little blob should completely cover the chip - if you can't make it cover the chip, then add a TINY BIT more). if it "easily" covers the chip, then you probably have way too much on there. dab Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 just follow Arctic Silver's Instructions and you'll be fine. They recommend a small blob for IHS covered cpus.
