Guest GripS Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Actually no. Three options: 1. AMD dual core processor driver. 2. Microsoft dual core hotfix. 3. Setting affinity to 1 core using the task manager. One or all of the above should handle issues you are having with games. Read the links above carefully and it's all laid out for you. Here it is again:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=983781
Sorrento Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 *Cough* Bull**** *cough* I've had an X2 for almost a year now and have not seen any problems in any of the games I play on a DC. As long as you have the switch /usepmtimer in your boot.ini, then you will be fine. Windows does a very good job of assigning processes itself. I think the same way, however I experienced a less than perfect performance with some single core games under certain circumstances. This link explain these circumstances and how to fix the problem, the software posted by function8 looks good but I am not sure if its really needed: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=983781
