vf900 chipset temps

Your load temp went from 69 up to 80? I guess I will settle with the noise rather than that kind of load temp. Right now with the fan at 100% my load temp is 60C.

No it went down. It used to be 80. This is at 73F room temperature on a stormy, humid night. My benchmark was 3DMark06 running in a loop.

I'm getting VPU Recovers when I try to overclock now. I'll take it off and reapply the AS5 tonight, maybe I didn't put enough on. It runs games fine though, so I don't know what's going on. Only happens when I try to overclock the card, never happened before.

Okay. I read it wrong. That makes me feel a lot better. I am supposed to get one in today.

I got mine on today and I must say I was very disappointed with it. The idle was about 5 degrees cooler but load was about 15 degrees hotter. Going back with the stock cooler.

There is the potential to salvage it. By removing the stock fan in the VF900, and settng up a 120mm fn to blow over it, you may get better results

I aso go back to the issue of the SHIM on ATI cards.

YOU must assure that the CORE is not LOWER than the shim around it. If so, you wont get good core contact with any non-standard heatsinks, because only the stock HSF has the bump out to assure serious core contact.

The VF900 and Accelero2 both have flat surfaces across the entire core/shim, so if like old 9700-x850 situation exists with your X1900 of the core being slightly lower than the shim, the heatsin will be suspended in the air above the core, not making perfect contact.

Not quite a 7800 or X1900, but I recently put a VF900 on my 7900GT and it didn't seem to change my chipset temps.

Made a big difference on the temps and noise of the card. The tiny fan on the stock cooler was unbearably loud - sounded like a slightly muffled blow dryer. Stock idle/load was 42C/70C. With the VF900 at 6v it's 33C/48C and more importantly, completely inaudible to me.
