Iggy Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 I dont want to attach my ramsinks permanently to my vid card, so I'm wondering wether or not its ok to mix AS3 with AS Thermal Adhesive, so it can be removed later on. Is this a good idea, or should I just accept the fact that I need to get new ramsinks next time I get a new graphics card? Bosco Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Anytime I use ramsinks and I want to take them off I just put the card in the freezer for a few hours and pull them off works everytime
kobalt Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 (edited) you could always use thermal tape these guys give "FREE" samples The "thermaltach T404" is very similar to the 3M frag tape i have ordered it and that's what's on my VC sinks and it works great (bottom of the samples in thermally conductive adhesive tape) Â http://www.chomerics.com/products/thermattachT410_411.htm Edited September 25, 2003 by kobalt
Ziggy54354 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 so im assuming u got the samples? i just requested some myself. how long will it take and how does it perform against as3 adhesive?
kobalt Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 (edited) I received mine a week after by fed ex big 8x10 enveloppe 2 strips of it 2x10 with all the tech stuff i was pretty impressed it seems to work fine, i cant tell you how, i dont have a thermal probe on my VC ram but heat transfer is definitely there the sinks are pretty warm to the touch and i bet without it the card would've crashed by now As i said it's very similar to the 3m tape but still i dont think it compares to AS adhesive with liquid contact to both parts it is still only tape Edited September 25, 2003 by kobalt
Iggy Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Yeah, I know putting the card in the freezer helps get things off, I've done it before, but does that work with epoxy? From what I've heard, this stuff is PERMANENT.
