dave24 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 you only need the drivers on the floppy if you are setting up a raid array,so there is no need to press F6
supershanks Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hi, 1)Don't matter for you but only ever plug in the hard drive you want to install XP on. 2) No need to press [f6] or use floppy or enable raid in bios. Just make sure sata has data lead & power lead plugged in. 3) just boot up from CD by holding down the [ESC] key & selecting the drive containing your xp cd. luck

supershanks Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 No xp install should recognise & format your sata drive for you.
burpootus Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 If you want FAT32 file system you will have to boot to a windows 98 or ME floppy and do the format. XP setup will only format NTFS for a drive your size. There are other methods of formatting FAT32, but if you have one of those floppies, that's the easiest way. Burleyboy Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 If you didn't install the SW Ide drivers, you won't see it. All my Seagates work fine with the SW Ide drivers.
