bigred Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 I'm looking for an "older" P4. socket doesn't matter as long as I can get my hands on a mobo of the same type with sdram. Looking to help a friend rebuild his system, he just sunk a sizable amount of $$$ into 1gb of Pc133 last week, and his P3 just took a dump on him LMK what you have and what you want for it. bigred Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 well, I dont' need it for the original project, but I'm still looking for a lower end P4 for yet another project. what do you think is fair?
Xero Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 i dont really know... about about 75 bucks? do you think thats fair? i would also be willing to trade if you have any pc3200 ram, or a geForce4 ti vid card or something. if you put it in a board that takes RDRAM, i have 2-256mb sticks around somewhere that id sell for another like 65-70 bucks. let me know, these are also not set in stone... bigred Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 yes they did make em. infact the i845 chipset was out in sdr form before ddr. It looks like I got my hands on an older 2.4ghz HT and I'm going to go out and pickup a newer ddr based mobo for it.
Newb_ocer Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Yea you would be better off with the ddr. Without fast ram your computer is just a super fast calculater...
bigred Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 (edited) actually my P4 I have now is sdr. it's equipped with Pc150 (the overclockers ram of choice durring the reign of the PIII), and is running just fine that way. I've benched it against a friends 2.4ghz and it not only matched but BEAT a ddr based 2.4ghz setup (not so bad now is it?)
